Apple Fritter after rescue

Apple Fritter

Apple Fritter’s Story
Gender: Female 3 to 4 months old

Apple Fritter was adopted by a family on January 30, 2026 after she had appeared on WLKY, where TAF and the Animal Action Network discussed the upcoming Animal Action Day at the State Capital on Feburary 4, 2026.

Here is her story–the three-to -four month old puppy was found near death in southeastern Kentucky. She was left waiting for any help beside her deceased sibling.

A Good Samaritan stumbled upon two puppies that had been dumped and left to die in the cold; upon closer inspection, it was discovered that one of the pups was already deceased.

The surviving pup had not left her sibling’s side, desperate to cling onto the only source of familiarity or comfort she knew after they were abandoned to die.

The pup was then transported to a vet in Manchester, Ky., where it was discovered she was positive for Parvo and needed to be isolated and treated in an ICU to save her life. Rescuers then reached out to The Arrow Fund in a plea for help with her care, and we said YES immediately. She was given immediate IV fluids, dextrose, vitamin B-12 and B complex, and meds for nausea and pain control.

She was transported to Louisville into a loving TAF foster and soon after appeared on WLKY and then quickly adopted.
Because she is so sweet, we named her Apple Fritter. 🍎 🥧

This girl will now be given an abundance of love, a warm home, and great care for the rest of her days.
