Lima Bean

Lima Bean and sibling Butter Bean are the only two surviving kittens from a litter of five born to an unspayed outdoor cat in Waco, KY.

A local woman had been feeding the outdoor cats on her property. The kittens’ mother disappeared, leaving the litter orphaned outdoors. One by one, the kittens died, leaving only these two survivors.

The caregiver sought veterinary care but was unable to afford the treatment they require beyond antibiotics. Because she is unwilling to bring them indoors for the intensive care and frequent medications they need, the plan was to return them outside once the antibiotics were finished. Due to the severity of their eye injuries and the inability to provide appropriate care, the veterinarian advised humane euthanasia unless a rescue was willing to intervene. The finder agreed to surrender them to rescue if placement could be found.

Fortunately, TAF had an experienced foster willing to take both kittens and provide the intensive care they will need. Lima Bean will likely be blind but even blind cats do well with all their other kitty senses!
