Jonathan’s Story
Gender: Male

Once slated for euthanasia, Jonathan’s now living happily as an unstoppable tripod! 💜🐾

In rescue, we often see cases where we know we may be an animal’s only lifeline. For Johnathon, that was exactly the case.

When a local shelter reached out, they explained that without a rescue organization, Johnathon didn’t have a clear pathway to adoption. Without more resources at the shelter to help him, he faced sure euthanasia. It was believed that he had bilateral deformities affecting both of his front legs.

We saw this dog’s determination to live with enthusiasm and to love people, and knew we had to give this little guy a chance.

Once Johnathon entered our Arrow Fund program, a veterinarian discovered there was more to his story. While one of his front legs did have a congenital deformity, radiographs revealed the other leg had sustained painful injuries (possibly from being struck by a vehicle).

Suddenly, we had a plan.

First, we needed to give Johnathon time to build strength and muscle in his injured leg and let it heal. Once he was strong enough, he underwent surgery to amputate the deformed limb.
And today, we get to share the update we hoped for from the very beginning. 💜

The little puppy who once faced euthanasia because he struggled to walk on both of his front legs is now happy, healthy, and quite possibly the most determined tripod you’ll ever meet!
Johnathon didn’t need someone to decide what he couldn’t do. He just needed someone willing to give him the chance to show us what he could do.

And this happy boy is making every step count. 🐾💜
