TAF UPDATE on Demi: When we accept an animal into our emergency care, we’re often working with little to no information. Sometimes, what we think happened turns out to be something entirely different.
Sadly, that was the case with sweet Demi.
When an animal networker first sent us photos, we assumed Demi’s horrific injury may have been caused by abuse, trauma, or even someone starting a car engine while she was underneath it. But once she arrived at Dogwood Veterinary Clinic, we learned the heartbreaking truth.
Demi’s injuries weren’t caused by a motor. They were caused by severe neglect.
She had a massive tumor on her chest that had been left untreated until it finally burst open. This wasn’t an injury that happened in a split second. Demi had been living with this for some time.
Thanks to our caring Arrow Fund family of supporters, the suffering she once endured from that catastrophic injury is over.
Demi underwent surgery, and we recently received the news we had all been hoping for: all tumor cells were removed leaving CLEAN MARGINS (no cancerous cells are left)!
Now this beautiful girl gets to trade pain and horrific neglect for healing to start a brand-new chapter.
🦋 Demi will continue to heal, her fur will grow back, and she will transform into a truly gorgeous cat. Her foster mom Katie says this kitty is an absolute sweetheart!
