Buddy’s Story
Gender: male

This poor fellow has been neglected for some time, and only at the repeated pleas of an animal advocate who tried to provide pet food was he finally owner surrendered. The Arrow Fund was contacted to help him with whatever medical treatment he needed and time to recover in our loving foster care.

He had clearly been starved and was in misery with itching skin and hair loss; we said yes immediately and got him to our medical partners at Hillview Animal Hospital and Clinic.
There, they assessed him with a body score of 2 (out of a possible 9) and reported that he is 15-20 lbs. underweight, has demodectic mange, and a full body yeast infection.
Our hearts were breaking thinking of how much this sweet, 3-4 year-old dog has suffered and for so long. We looked into his sad, sweet eyes and told him he would be loved from this day forward.

We told him he would never starve or needlessly suffer in pain ever again. In addition to the medication he received today, his foster will start him on a regimen of medicated baths to help his poor body begin to heal.

“He was such a good boy. We did feed him some Hill’s puppy food and he loved it. We sent the sample bag home with the foster so she can mix it with whatever she is going to feed him,” his vet tech Jennifer wrote.

We know he will need time, and we promised him that, too. He has never known loving care before, but his disposition is so sweet and friendly, despite all he’s endured at the hands of a human who did not care enough about him to get him help.

We told this gentle, loving boy who wagged his tail at his helpers that one day after he has healed, we will pair him with a human friend for life who will truly care about him and love him the way he has always deserved.

His old life of misery and name from his abuser are in the past. At the dawn of 2026, this boy will also begin life anew, and we cannot wait to show you his transformation into a beautiful, healthy boy who will finally know what real love feels like.

Please welcome our Arrow Fund family’s newest member: “Buddy” who has always just wanted to be a human’s best friend.
