Bradley
Initial FB Intake on Bradley from Nov. 25, 2025: EMERGENCY INTAKE: this 3-month-old Shepherd puppy is alive because of the kindness of strangers. He was hit and left to die in a ditch in Southern Kentucky.
This baby was alone and in unimaginable agony for a couple of days until a kind stranger picked him up and reached out to rescuers in Louisville.
More kind people transported him and the pup was seen by a vet who said his back legs could not likely be saved.
Radiographs revealed that not only were both of his femurs broken but his tibia and pelvis were, as well.
The Arrow Fund was contacted as his last hope, and we had him evaluated by Dr. Brad at Elk Creek Animal Hospital who performs vascular and orthopedic surgeries. Dr. Brad reviewed the puppy’s X-rays and said he thought both legs could be saved.
The problem then became that this poor baby was septic as a result of infection and could not be operated on unless he stabilized.
We are relieved to report that as of today, this sweet pup we named Bradley has stabilized. He is in intensive care at Elk Creek, and has now had fluids, eaten a little, and was able to go potty in their great care.
PUPPY BRADLEY UPDATE (December 4, 2025): This sweetheart needed to have his shattered left knee and both broken femurs and tibias set with surgical pins over a three-hour surgery last week at Elk Creek Animal Hospital, and has been doing well in recovery at the hospital.
His surgeon, Dr. Brad Rohleder, said his plans are to repair Bradley’s hip in several weeks when the pup’s legs have had more time to heal and the pins can be removed.
This baby sustained blunt force trauma and damage from road rash after being struck by a vehicle before he was left to die in agony in a ditch on the side of a road in southern Kentucky.
He was picked up a few days later and transported by kind strangers who got him to the help he needed after reaching out to The Arrow Fund. They saved his life.
Three-month-old Bradley will now be confined to strict crate rest in an Arrow Fund foster’s home while he rests, heals, and gets plenty of loving care.
Although the pup’s injuries are severe, Dr. Brad thinks that this beautiful boy will be able to walk and live a happy, active life after Bradley has his repair surgeries and is given time to heal with great care.
We will keep you updated and let you know when this sweet pup goes back for his hip surgery. 💜
Thank you for loving him and supporting him. He now has a big Arrow Fund family on his side. Please keep him in your thoughts as he begins the long healing process.
