HEARTBREAKING TAF INTAKE:
When 19 abused and horribly neglected dogs were discovered by the LMPD after a drug raid on a house in Louisville, officers entered the residence in disbelief at the conditions these innocent animals had been subjected to for a very long time.
The stench of urine and feces in this home was overpowering; they noticed a flea infestation throughout. Officers witnessed miserable dogs confined in cages while some roamed in deplorable conditions. Many dogs had visibly large tumors. All of them had been neglected for possibly years.
Three of those 19 dogs had to be humanely euthanized, and 16 were in urgent need of foster care from our city’s already overwhelmed animal shelter.
Animal advocates stepped in to get these dogs into loving foster care and long-term medical intervention, and reached out to The Arrow Fund in desperation. We immediately sought fosters for three of the dogs.
Please let us introduce you to one of those sweet pups whom we have named “Benny” from Benedict or “Blessed,” as we will work to make sure this sweetheart is from this point forward.
Benny has suffered. He has loss of hair and dermatitis from a severe reaction to a multitude of fleas biting him. He has pressure sores from being imprisoned in a small cage; an upper respiratory infection; neglected teeth and infected, painful gums; and overgrown, painful nails.
His hips hurt from being confined for so long, and he shakes from discomfort while trying to potty outside now.
A kind Arrow Fund foster stepped up for Benny, and he was taken for evaluation and vaccinations to our medical partners at Dogwood Veterinary Clinic, who noted how friendly he is, despite everything he’s been through and seen.
We want you to know this sweet boy is being loved and cared for fully now. YOU made that possible with your support of animals you’ve never even met, and we cannot express to you how grateful we are for your generosity for voiceless victims of animal abuse.
You are amazing, Arrow Fund family, and we will share that love with Benny from this time forward. The horrors of his previous life are behind him now. Only love and gentle care will be in Benny’s life now.
