Happy happy dance!!
Stanley has been adopted by his foster family!
Stanley has been with The Arrow Fund for over a year, and during that time he has been through so much. His foster family has been with him through all of it and could not imagine their life without him.
Congratulation to the Luckett family, and to Stanley and his brothers!
Stanley was found in Eastern Kentucky with damage to both front limbs, requiring partial amputation. He has been fitted with an orthotic from Orthopets, but unfortunately it was twisting on his leg and it is back to the drawing board.
Stanley is doing great in his foster home where he has three furry foster brothers, including Trio the tripawd chocolate lab in many of these pictures. Stanley likes to ride in the car and loves to play, he also likes to be silly and snuggle! Many of you will also remember that Stanley’s fosters also fostered Duke. Stanley has taken it upon himself to teach new fosters that they are loved and safe. He is great at it!
Stanley is also receiving weekly physical therapy, including laser treatment and water treadmill therapy at Blue Pearl.
Please continue to send positive thoughts for Stanley. Your continued support is appreciated. We are in need of fosters, adopters, volunteers and donations. All can be done on our website at thearrowfund.org.
Today is a very special day. Stanley received his prosthetic and he is beaming from ear to ear! A huge thanks to BluePearl and OrthoPets: Orthotics and Prosthetics for Animals for their dedication to Stanley. And a special thanks to Dr. Becca Hodshon and Dr. Ruth Schmidtchen for all the hard work they put into Stanley’s recovery.
Stanley came to us after suffering trauma to both front legs without receiving medical care for months. Although we initially tried limb-saving techniques we were unable to save his leg and a partial amputation was needed. BluePearl and OrthoPets worked together to fabricate a prosthetic especially for Stanley.
Stanley’s case, as well as the many other cases, has been very costly and we could not do this without your support. If you are able to foster, please fill out an application on our website. We continue to get cases in nearly everyday. To adopt, foster or donate please visit thearrowfund.org. Again, thank you for your continued support, as you can clearly see from Stanley’s huge smile, it makes a difference!
Update 1/24/2016 – Stanley
Stanley continues to recover well after the partial amputation of his front leg. He has been back to Blue Pearl for bandage changes a couple of times now, and Dr. Hodshon, his surgeon, is pleased with his progress. Stanley will be closely monitored. In true Stanley fashion, he cannot wait for his prosthetic limb to arrive, so that he can go back to his busy schedule of playing with his foster family.
Our cases are very costly, and donations are down. Please consider helping out. No amount is too small. Donations can be made via PayPal online at www.thearrowfund.org, or via checks (they can be sent to PO Box 1127, Prospect, KY 40059). You can also help by shopping at our current Stella & Dot fundraising event. 10% of the purchases will go to us. (Scroll down further on the page to find the entry.)
We’re also in need of fosters again, so that we can take future cases on. Please don’t wait for a specific case to come in. We honestly have had to turn case requests down because we did not have fosters in place. Foster applications can be found on our website at www.thearrowfund.org . We do require a fence and residence in the Greater Louisville area to foster. Fostering involves taking the pets to their follow-up and routine care appointments. No special skills are required.
Thanks to everyone for all you do for the animals in our care.

UPDATE – STANLEY
Happy smiles all around for Stanley.
Stanley is now in a foster home, although he is being taken to the vet for bandage changes and monitoring. Stanley has a front-wheel chair cart that has been ordered from Eddie’s Wheels and we are still consulting experts on the best course of action for Stanley, which could include prosthetics and potential re-breaking the one front leg and trying to repair the elbow joint.
Stanley is a very happy boy and wants to play with his foster brothers. He is also very determined to do what other dogs do: he lifts his leg to potty, and he attempts to climb stairs and get on the couch with his foster family. He has the best disposition and literally smiles all the time.
In his pictures you can see him happy, smiling, enjoying his foster family and being wheeled around in his red wagon!
GOLDEN RETRIEVER/ LAB MIX – INJURIES TO BOTH FRONT LEGS .
AFTER RADIOGRAPHS AND MANY TESTS – THE DAMAGE IS GREAT TO BOTH FRONT LEGS . WE ARE RESEARCHING PROSTHETICS FOR BOTH FRONT LIMBS FOR STANLEY . THIS WILL BE A GREAT ENDEAVOR AND VERY COSTLY, BUT STANLEY IS A GREAT CANDIDATE FOR PROSTHETICS. THIS BOY IS YOUNG, GREAT TEMPERAMENT, AND IN GOOD PHYSICAL HEALTH EXCEPT FOR THE FRONT LEGS . STANLEY ALSO SMILES A LOT AND THAT JUST MELTS YOUR HEART INSTANTLY ! PLEASE CONSIDER HELPING US HELP STANLEY…..
Stanley has radial nerve damage to his left front leg , he has no feeling up to the elbow. He has either chewed off or worn off the toes because he can’t feel anything in this area. There is Infection and constant irritation from dragging . Stanley is unable to place that foot properly due to the nerve damage .
On his right front leg he has an ulna olecranon fracture . This involves the elbow joint . This is an old untreated fracture . Muscles have contracted and Stanley is unable to extend at all making his limb function abnormal.
A lot of research will be done as we map out a plan for Stanley . We are fitting him for a front leg cart soon and that will help him with mobility for the months ahead. We also will concentrate on actually healing the wounds . If prosthetics are the course of action for Stanley this will be a long term and very expensive case . We sure hope we can count on everyone pulling together for this gentle boy. His smile will win you over the minute you see him….
Peace to you all ~Rebecca~

He will go to Blue Pearl and will be evaluated . Stanley we are told is a complete sweetheart. He is friendly with Kids, Cats, and other Dogs.
When we know more about what can be done to help Stanley we will update . Our thanks to Lisa Roberts for transporting Stanley to us !
