Breed: Terrier Mix
Petey, a pit mix that came to us last summer after having been attacked by several dogs, is now available for adoption. At the time, Petey needed major reconstructive surgery of his jaw, in addition to the care of the various wounds he had all over his body as a result of the attack.
While Petey has fully recovered from his physical wounds, Petey remains a timid and even fearful dog when encountering new situation. Once Petey is comfortable, he is a very happy and fun dog. Petey is now looking for a very special home: Petey is looking for a home where he isn’t just the only dog, but also a home that knows how to gain his confidence by allowing Petey to progress at his own rate of speed, providing him with structure, and by using lots of praise and other positive reinforcement.
If you feel that you may be the right home for this very special dog, please complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website at www.thearrowfund.org
If you can’t adopt, please share this post.

SUSPECTED DOGFIGHTING VICTIM
6 DAYS POST OP
Petey”s tissue and skin was gone on lower jaw up to his canines. Reconstructive surgery was performed to create a new chin . A flap was constructed and several teeth were removed. 6 days post op Petey’s jaw is looking good. Infection still could be an issue , but for now the surgical site is looking good.
Petey upon arrival could not put down his right front leg. He had old and new deep puncture wounds. His leg was very swollen . After aggressive anti biotic treatment the swelling has gone down. Petey now will place the foot to the ground. This is slow progress . It will depend upon how well it heals as to whether amputation will occur. We are sure hoping we see progress everyday and that Petey will be able to keep his front leg.
This boy is just a joy to be around . He has a very sweet temperament . Please keep sending Petey lots of love and prayers.
DONATIONS ARE NEEDED ! Any amount is appreciated . Please go to www.thearrowfund.org or checks may be mailed to The Arrow Fund P.O. Box 1127 Prospect, Kentucky 40059.
Adoption and Foster Applications are on the website as well.
Thanks all for your support !
We sure appreciate you !
