We want to thank the Pemberton family , who has gone over and above for this precious baby . They actually are with her now at OSU . Such dedication … Our fosters are the best ! A thank you to Dr.Bell as well , and the staff at OSU .
Update – Pemberly
HEART SURGERY COMPLETED at Ohio State University and Pemberly is in ICU . We were told the procedure went well and the surgeon actually drained more fluid from her frail body . Please keep our baby close to your heart as she recovers . She is truly a sweetheart….
If all goes well , our Pemberly can travel tomorrow back to Louisville to Blue Pearl and then to a foster home soon . With more excess fluid you can now tell how literally emaciated Pemberly is . We want to thank Betsy Hay for transporting and staying in Ohio while our girl is hospitalized.
All of these highly skilled procedures and long term treatments on our animals is very costly . We now have 25 animals in our care .
Update – Pemberly
Heart Surgery Required .
Pemberly came to us so incredibly debilitated from a huge distended abdomen. For her whole life she suffered without proper medical treatment- until now ! Surgeons have already pulled over 9 liters of fluid from her . Pemberly is acting so happy . She was literally unable to lie down before . She still is at Blue Pearl .
On July 11th The Arrow Fund will be taking Pemberly to Ohio State for heart surgery . We should be there for 3 days . Please continue to send our girl love .
Pemberly is so amazing . She loves everyone! What a personality she has and you can tell that having that fluid drained has made her feel so much better .
Pemberly came to us Saturday night and her abdomen was so large that she could barely walk and definitely could not lie down . After quickly evaluating her she needed a blood transfusion immediately. Since her arrival 7 liters of fluid have been drained from her . This girl can now lay down and actually get comfortable. This poor baby has lived her whole life and received no relief, this girl has suffered over the years …. This is neglect .
Today Pemberly saw Dr. Sarah Bell a cardiologist and she was diagnosed with a Cor Triattriatum Dexter or CTD . This is a congenital defect that she was born with . The abnormality is a partition within the right atrium, leading to the obstruction of venous blood return from the back half of her body to the heart . This obstruction leads to an enlargement of the liver and fluid accumulation within the abdomen also known as ascites. In Pemberly’s case , this membrane has a hole or perforation in it so that there is some blood flow between the two right atrial chambers . Dogs with this condition are often thin due to loss of high protein fluid in their abdomen and abnormal uptake from their GI tract .
Pemberly will be taken on July 11th to receive a cardiac procedure called a balloon valvuloplasty . This will be done by the Cardiac Surgeon at Ohio State University. We are still working on all of the details . Pemberly is so gentle and sweet . What a joy it will be to see her actually feel good for once in her life !
The Arrow Fund’s 2nd intake tonight !
This is Pemberly . She was removed from home by the police . This is severe neglect .
This girl can’t even lay down . No , she is not pregnant.
Pemberly is having tests run now at Blue Pearl . This is heartbreaking 💔She is infested with fleas and intestinal parasites. She is severely anemic and a blood transfusion will be underway soon . Fluid is being drawn as well from from her belly . So far 5 quarts .
