Reba was found in the Owensboro area of Kentucky severely emaciated, covered in fleas, and had several concerning growths on her body. Bloodwork revealed that two blood transfusions were necessary for Reba to survive. Further investigation of the growths showed us that Reba has two forms of cancer, one of which had already metastasized. Treatment of the cancer would require one of her legs be amputated to the shoulder and aggressive chemotherapy. Treatment of this magnitude would be very difficult for Reba to endure both mentally and physically, and it would only buy a small chance that the cancer would be removed completely. After much thought, The Arrow Fund decided that hospice care would be the best option for Reba. Any pain she had was managed to ensure that she was as comfortable as possible. Reba went to a hospice foster with one of her vet techs – she received all the love in the world and more! On December 16, 2013, it was time for Reba to leave this world. She had received a lifetime of love in the short time she was in hospice care; we will forever miss but never forget this sweet girl.
