Although we at The Arrow fund do everything we can to save each and every animal that crosses our path, sometimes nature must take its course to end their suffering and send them to a happier place. We honor each Rainbow Bridge Angel, remember them every day, and love them all.

Reba

Last updated December 16, 2013

Reba was found in the Owensboro area of Kentucky severely emaciated, covered in fleas, and had several concerning growths on her body. Bloodwork revealed that two blood transfusions were necessary for Reba to survive. Further investigation of the growths showed us that Reba has two forms of cancer, one of which had already metastasized. Treatment of the cancer would require one of her legs be amputated to the shoulder and aggressive chemotherapy. Treatment of this magnitude would be very difficult for Reba to endure both mentally and physically, and it would only buy a small chance that the cancer would be removed completely. After much thought, The Arrow Fund decided that hospice care would be the best option for Reba. Any pain she had was managed to ensure that she was as comfortable as possible. Reba went to a hospice foster with one of her vet techs – she received all the love in the world and more! On December 16, 2013, it was time for Reba to leave this world. She had received a lifetime of love in the short time she was in hospice care; we will forever miss but never forget this sweet girl.

Sabrina

Last updated December 11, 2013

Sabrina came to The Arrow Fund with a severe skin condition, mostly on her face but also throughout her body. We were originally informed that Sabrina was suffering from chemical burns (it looked that bad!), but after evaluation at Blue Pearl they discovered that Sabrina actually has a very severe case of demodectic mange. The vets have confirmed that for demodectic mange to become this severe would have taken months! An investigation is still underway, but the person responsible for this horrid neglect has been found. At this point this is all we can say because the investigation is still open; we hope that charges are filed to the fullest extent of the law!

After exhausting every option for Sabrina’s care, we are heartbroken to report that she has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We truly tried everything for this poor girl but her body just could not fight any longer. We are consumed with sadness over the loss of Sabrina; she has touched our hearts forever and will never be forgotten.

Tara

Last updated October 11, 2013

Tara was discovered soon after a flood had hit the Louisville area. She was only six ounces and was soaking wet, cold, and lethargic. After arriving at the hospital, we discovered Tara was also positive for Parvo. Tara’s little body fought with all her might as The Arrow Fund and the doctors at Blue Pearl did everything in our power to save this little girl. Unfortunately, what Tara was fighting was just too much for her body to endure. We will always remember and love little Tara.
