Update – Ellie Mae
Ellie Mae, the beagle that was found in southern Indiana, dumped in the woods with a huge, deep wound on her back, is doing better. While Ellie Mae has been undergoing regularly scheduled bandage changes over the past several months, she has lost a considerable amount of weight, and her wound is looking much better now. The next step will be to close the wound by using some of the now excess skin as a graft. Her fosters tell us that Ellie Mae is an unbelievably sweet dog, and she has been undergoing her treatments with stride.
Donations are needed. Our cases are very costly, and many of them are ongoing. If you’re able to make a donation, you can do so online at www.thearrowfund.org. Alternatively, you can send a check to PO Box, Louisville, KY 40059.
Thanks for your continued support!

UPDATE – ELLIE MAE
ELLIE MAE IS BEING TREATED FOR THE LARGE DEEP WOUND ON HER BACK. THE SURGICAL TEAM HAS A WOUND DRESSING ON IT AND IT IS TACKED DOWN . THIS WOUND IS SO LARGE IT WILL NEED TO BE SURGICALLY CLOSED WHEN READY. CULTURES WERE SENT OFF . WE ARE ALSO WAITING ON THE TICK PANEL THAT WAS SENT OFF. THIS BABY GIRL IS ONE OF THE SWEETEST GIRLS AROUND !
We were told that Ellie Mae has lived in the woods for over a year after being dumped . A kind person would drop whole bags of food . Ellie is quite overweight and she is on a safe reduction diet . We will never know for sure what caused this huge, deep wound on this innocent girl . We are just thankful with the help of friends, like you, that we had the resources to help her…. I can’t express how sweet she is ! She to me, seems like an old soul , she just wants safety and someone to love her ….
Ellie Mae will need a foster home in the future and a forever home . Both applications can be found on our website www.thearrowfund.org
UPDATE ON ELLIE MAE
Our sweet girl rested easily through the night. Some test are back and she is NEGATIVE for heart worm !!!! They still have her on fluids and pain meds with a topical on the wound. The surgery staff is doing a further evaluation this morning and we will discuss our options and choose the right one for her. The first pic is of her beautiful face, #2 is of her infested with huge ticks, #3 is of wound, and I can’t get a picture to show just how deep the wound is, its as big as a fist. What we know of her story so far is that she has been a stray for years and a good Samaritan has been dropping off food in the woods for her and her friend. Her beagle friend was picked up as well and is being fostered by some great people. We will post more as soon as we get some more details from the doctors. thank you for all your support ! “IT TAKES A VILLAGE”
Please share and help however you are able. honestly a simple share means sooo much !
