Happy news today! Duke has been adopted by a wonderful family! He now has a furry sister, Arrow Fund alum Danica, and a human sister to play with.
Duke came to The Arrow Fund emaciated and with an untreated hip injury. But with a little love and medical treatment he was ready to find a home to call his own. Duke has always been very loving and he will certainly get all the love he needs from his new family. Happy pictures and stories like this are what make rescue so special.
Please consider adopting one of the many dogs available through The Arrow Fund. If you can’t adopt, why not foster? You provide the love and we provide the rest. If you can’t foster, we always need volunteers for events. Can’t volunteer? Donate. Without donations we could never afford the medical care that so many of our rescues need, let alone the food and grooming.
Duke the collie who came to us from a neglect situation is doing great in his foster home.
Duke is loving and happy, wagging his tail all the time. He loves his foster brother Stanley and loves to be petted. He is recovering from his FHO surgery and is patient for his Physical Therapy with his foster parents. He has the best personality and is so patient.
Although Duke is not ready for adoption, we have many other dogs who are waiting for loving homes. Likewise we constantly get in new cases that need foster homes. To donate, foster or adopt please visit our website at thearrowfund.org. As always, thanks for your support.
The Arrow Fund – meet Duke
We were alerted to a situation regarding a Collie that was in a horrid environment. He was a Collie who had lived in an inside home, then was sold to an individual who chained him outside for the last 2 years on a short chain . Duke was deprived of love and any positive interaction. The man transported Duke in the back of his pick up truck in a box that was meant for a beagle . He literally was crammed in there . Upon arrival to us , his back end and hip were very stiff . He was clearly in pain , a lot of pain . He also was a mess underneath his coat from living in the elements . Duke was so happy the moment we got him . It was as if he knew we were going to help him…
After evaluation by the surgeon it was determined that Duke has long been suffering and required FHO surgery quickly . After surgery , our board certified surgeon stated this ” it was the worst FHO I have seen in years . Terrible , chronic fracture . Everything was thick , scarred , and awful . ” Duke underwent gastropexy and neuter as well .
Thanks to Kelley and Chris Luckett for stepping up to foster Duke for us . They are also fostering The Arrow Fund’s Stanley . These two have become fast friends and are taking care of each other . A very sweet bond … Duke is an amazing boy , his spirit is so gentle and kind .
This case is under investigation and no details will be discussed at this time . We also want to thank Mike Parks for doing yet another emergency transport .
Donations are needed for the many active cases The Arrow Fund has now . Donations may be made at thearrowfund.org and checks may be sent to The Arrow Fund P.O. Box 1127 Prospect, Kentucky 40059 .
We appreciate you all ! Thank you for your support as we help yet another innocent baby .
Humanely yours ,
The Arrow Fund
