Medical Care of Our Animals
The Arrow Fund is located in the Louisville, Kentucky metropolitan area with a population of approximately 1.3 million. We are fortunate to have access to high-quality veterinary care in this region including board certified specialists in orthopedic surgery and reconstruction, ophthalmology, dermatology, internal medicine, and other veterinary specialties, as well as 24/7 trauma care. All Arrow Fund animals receive the best possible veterinary care available in our region and nationwide.
Please note: Under Kentucky law, veterinarians are prohibited from discussing patient status with non-clients. We regularly post status updates on each Arrow Fund case on our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/thearrowfund, and website, www.thearrowfund.org.
The Arrow Fund does not release financial information on a case-by-case basis:
1. Cases are often lengthy and unpredictable, and we must often adjust treatment plans as recommended by our veterinary professionals. As a result, any emergency or change in health status can drastically change the projected cost of a particular case.
2. Donations come through a variety of revenue streams such as general fundraisers, direct mail, PayPal, Facebook appeals, and many other sources. Many are not case-specific donations and any monies donated to The Arrow Fund go directly to animal care. Because of our comprehensive fundraising approach, The Arrow Fund is financially sound and we continually monitor our finances to ensure that we maintain funds to cover our projected expenses. All this information will ultimately be reported in accordance with state and federal requirements as outlined below.
Nonprofit Status and History
The Arrow Fund is a tax-exempt nonprofit organization that annually files the appropriate forms with both the applicable state agencies and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to provide information to the public on the organization’s finances, public support, and activities.
Our fiscal year is a calendar year and we will file the IRS Form 990 in accordance with IRS requirements. Any IRS Form 990 is available for public scrutiny through a variety of sources such as The Foundation Center (www.foundationcenter.org) and you can also learn more about The Arrow Fund at www.guidestar.org.
The Arrow Fund is an independent, nonprofit organization and is not affiliated in any way with any other local, state, or national organization. It was established as an independent nonprofit in 2013, after the board of directors of Neuter Town, Inc. decided to refocus and expand its charitable mission and increase the size of its board. The expanded board voted to become The Arrow Fund and to also focus on victims of animal cruelty, in order to rehabilitate these animals, bring public awareness to the frequency and severity of animal cruelty, and to encourage prosecution of offenders. All necessary documentation for this change was provided to the state and federal agencies that oversee nonprofit organizations.
Our board members are highly-respected members of our community with expertise in banking, accounting, law, information technology, public relations, general nonprofit management, fundraising, and animal advocacy. All board members serve in their individual capacities and not as representatives of any other organization or group. All board members serve without charge; the president of the board also serves as chief executive officer and does not receive any compensation in this role.
