WONDERFUL NEWS!! Copper has been ADOPTED!
We are so excited for Copper and his new family. He will have a fur-sister and two human siblings to keep him busy, and as you can tell he has already made himself quite at home.
Thank you for choosing The Arrow Fund to add a special furbaby to your family.
Copper here. Foster mom says I need to give everyone updates about how I have been doing. My fur is almost all grown back from my amputation and the missing leg hasn’t really stopped me from doing anything.
I get really excited whenever I see my foster mom or dad and make squeaky noises to show them how excited I am. I also love to cuddle with them when they are watching movies. I get along well with my foster doggie brothers but I sometimes like attention all to myself. I also love being outside and going for walks. Sometimes I just like to lay on the deck and sun.
I am a super happy loving boy. Although foster mom and dad love me lots, I am looking for a home of my own so that they can open their home to another foster doggie that needs their love.
***UPDATE ON COPPER****
Copper is still looking for his forever home. His foster parents love him and he is doing GREAT ! They keep telling us what a wonderful pup he is !!! The first pic is of Copper learning how to play with a toy, he is still not sure what one is. 2nd pic is of him and one of his foster brothers Trio, a tripod dog himself. They are great friends but Copper needs a home of his own and a family to call HIS ! Please consider making room for this wonderful pup he truly deserves all the best ! He is completely healthy and a dream to be around! Read his story below…..
Copper appears to be an Australian Shepherd mix that came to us from Ohio County, where he was shot in the back and in the leg. The surgical team at Blue Pearl removed the bullets from his side. They initially tried to save the leg, but Copper continued to be in pain, and his leg was therefore amputated. Copper was also found to have Ehrlichia, for which he was treated with antibiotics.
Copper’s wounds have healed well, and he has recovered from the Ehrlichia. He is a timid dog that can be trusted around cats. He weighs around 55 lbs, and needs to be kept trim, so that he can have the best quality of life possible.
Copper came to us in early January with gunshot wounds to his side and his right rear leg.
After thorough reviews and much deliberation, the decision was made to amputate Copper’s right back leg. The surgery was performed by Blue Pearl, where he remained for a while due to his high levels of pain. Once the pain levels improved, he was transferred to All Pets for routine testing and vaccinations. Unfortunately, he was found to have Ehrlichia, a tick borne disease, for which is being treated while in foster care.
Copper will remain in foster care until the Ehrlichia will be resolved. To date we have not been informed of any charges filed against the person who shot Copper.

AFTER SEVERAL SERIES OF RADIOGRAPHS AND OBSERVING HIS PAIN LEVELS WHICH RECENTLY ESCALATED – A DECISION WAS MADE TO AMPUTATE HIS BACK LEG. SURGERY WAS PERFORMED LATE YESTERDAY AFTERNOON.
The pain for Copper was getting worse, so to amputate was the kindest thing we could do for Copper . He is doing as well as can be expected 1 day post op. Please keep this boy close to your heart .
We have made calls to the County Attorney’s Office in Ohio County < Kentucky to find out if charges were filed against Copper's shooter . The County Attorney's office has not provided us with any information.
Donations are needed please . If you are able please go to www.thearrowfund.org and checks may be mailed to The Arrow Fund P.O. Box 1127 Prospect, Kentucky 40059.

THE SHOT ON HIS BACK RIGHT LEG IS CAUSING HIM NOT TO PUT HIS FOOT DOWN ALL THE WAY AND HE IS DRAGGING THE FOOT WITH THE KNUCKLE TURNED . WE ARE UNSURE IF THE DAMAGE IS NERVE DAMAGE OR IFVTHE NERVE IS SEVERED. WE ARE UNSURE IF THE LEG CAN BE SAVED AT THIS POINT. WE ARE WAITING FOR THE SURGEON TO EVALUATE THIS. THE BULLET WOUND ON HIS RIGHT SIDE WAS CLEANED OUT AND STITCHED CLOSED.
Thank you for all of your support!
